An invention born out of necessity in the brain of mechanical engineer Doro Erjavec (co-founder of HYLA), to relieve his wife who suffered from a dust allergy after each cleaning of the house. After intensive experimentation and multiple tests, mass production of the aircraft began in 1992, with immediate success.
Engineers Doro Erjavec and Janez Pogacar named their air and surface purifier and sanitiser ‘HYLA’, and designed their first prototype in 1990.
Today, HYLA and its exceptional products are successful in more than 70 countries around the world.
1990
Creation of the HYLA company in Ljubljana (Slovenia) by the two Slovenian engineers Janez Pogacar and Doro Erjavec. The first two years are devoted to a phase of development and in-depth technical testing of the HYLA system. This careful preparation phase is followed by the launch into production and marketing of the product. The company immediately made profits and conquered the Slovenian market.
1993
First contact with German entrepreneurs and direct marketing specialists: Wilfried Metzger and his partner. Both join the team as partners and start to establish an international distribution network.
1994
HYLA is divided into two departments: Development and Production, led by owners and managing directors Janez Pogacar and Doro Erjavec, and Marketing/Sales, led by managing directors Wilfried Metzger and his partners. Establishment of HYLA Trade d.o.o. for the Marketing/Sales Department.

1996
Acquisition of land of 5 000 m2 for the new production site in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Construction and start-up of the plant.
1997
Sales figures are steadily increasing. In addition, other trading partners from 15 countries enter into agreements with HYLA. Inauguration of the new HYLA factory in Ljubljana. The four partners invest about 25 % turnover in research and development. HYLA ranks second in the ‘European Company of the Year’ competition.
1996

2001
After several months of design and extensive testing, the new HYLA NST was introduced in January 2001. This new generation HYLA is distinguished in particular by technological innovations, compared to its predecessor, and by a contemporary design.
The astonishing novelty of the system is the patented self-cleaning separator technology that allows for higher airflow, better filtration characteristics and higher suction efficiency. Introducing the new electric hose, with its cable integrated into its interior wall, in parallel with the launch of the new HYLA NST.
2007
The world’s first air and surface purifier and sanitiser in a refined finish composed of Swarovski CRYSTALLIZEDTM crystals.
This unparalleled marketing concept drives publications and requests from around the globe.
Participation in UNESCO 2007: HYLA Swarovski is donated to this charity event and is drawn at the raffle.
HYLA continues to innovate!
2010
On November 15, 2008, the first prototypes of the GST were presented to all trading partners around the world. Sales of this new line of products are expected to start at the end of 2009 / beginning of 2010.
